UNCG Affiliated Artists
For current UNCG Faculty and Students in any department or college, we are open year-round for submissions. While we do work to fit Faculty and Student requests in as much as possible, do note that the earlier you make your submission, the more likely we are to still have space in our calendar.

Using GPS for Shows
GPS offers show lengths of either 1 or 2 weeks, with install days typically happening on Monday and deinstall days happening on Sunday. Receptions typically take place on Friday evenings, from 6 pm - 8pm, though we are able to be flexible with this!
Artists may choose to sell their work on display or not, but GPS will never ask for a cut of sales or charge in any way to use the space.
Artists in the past have used the evenings throughout their show’s run to host artist talks, workshops, and other events. In fact, we encourage all exhibiting artists to plan an additional engagement event within the space during their show’s run. These events are a way to connect artists and audiences more directly, and build an active and involved community.
What Can You Expect Us to Ask In Our Call for Proposals?
- Name and Contact Info
- Event/Exhibition/Project Description
- Additional supporting information such as artist statement or curatorial statement, images of work/works samples, statement of intent, or similar
Selection Process
- Following the open call, all proposals are reviewed by the space’s Director and Assistant, along with student grad assistants and undergraduate interns, in a collaborative “learning-in-action” selection process. Whether you are selected or not, you will be notified of the team’s decision, via email, within two to four weeks.
- We avoid events that are solely to promote a business, and we look for things that add value to the community by way of challenging conversation, new artistic explorations, or collaborative opportunities and/or community partnerships.
- The more details you're able to provide about your vision, the better! While things may change throughout the process from proposal to exhibition, having a clear idea of the direction you’re intending is beneficial to the selection process.
GPS holds approximately 11,500 sq. ft. of gallery space, divided into four rooms, the smallest being 1,900 sq. ft. and the largest being 4,850 sq. ft. Artists may choose to book one or more spaces.
