More About S W E L L
S W E L L is a solo work-in-process created by kt williams as part of the Artist-in-Residence program through the North Carolina Dance Festival 2023-24 season. As a solo, S W E L L blends together personal memories and experiences related to themes of home, place, and belonging, while enmeshed with feelings of anticipatory grief. S W E L L explores and embodies situations of delay, deconstruction, and transition as opportunities for reflection, rest, and recalibration. As a process, S W E L L has organically become a container for healing: to honestly hold space for one-self, and to reflect, process, and move through deeply embodied notions of "home" - both, temporally and geographically.
More About kt williams
kt williams is a contemporary dancer, educator, choreographer, and interdisciplinary collaborator originally from Oak Park, IL.
She is fascinated by the influences history, space, and emotion hold on the body, and she researches how movement can translate individual human conditions and experiences. kt’s pedagogical and creative processes encourage an exploration of self, boundaries, and relationship; her embodied practice places a high priority on internal reflection and questions how she exists in relationship to space and to her surrounding environment.
