Through collaboration between the dancing body with projections and film, @ the intersection investigates the conceptual boundaries of the mediated body and visual art. @ the intersection invites the audience to break the fourth wall and experience the possibilities of collaborative and interactive art-making.
More About Emmalee
Emmalee Bradley is a dance artist, choreographer, and educator originally from South Carolina. Currently, she is an MFA Candidate in Dance (Choreography) and Graduate Teaching Associate in the School of Dance at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She holds a BA in Dance (with K-12 Teaching Certification) from Winthrop University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Most recently, Emmalee has performed in work by B.J. Sullivan (You’ll Move Forward...Fast), and worked professionally with Robin Gee, Clarice Young, Teresa Heiland, Lee Walton, Duane Cyrus and Ana Paula Höfling. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Emmalee performed, choreographed, and taught pre-professionally across the East Coast and Mid-West. She was a member of multiple traveling performance ensembles and heavily involved in performance at Winthrop. Emmalee has performed in various works by Maria Caruso, Lauren Skrabalak, Mia Cunningham, Julianna Hane, Ben Kubie, Meg Schriffen, Kelly Ozust, Bethany Tuffy, Brian Winn, Renay Aumiller, Brady Sanders, and Michael Rosales, among many others. Her teaching and choreographic style is informed by release techniques (most notably Safety Release Technique), contemporary ballet and modern dance practices, and her love for visual and digital art, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Emmalee’s choreographic work is situated in the postmodern/contemporary genre with a focus on process, experimentation, improvisation, and abstraction. Her concert and screen dance choreography has been presented at the American College Dance Association Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Conferences (Bizarre!, Evocation). Emmalee is immersed in creative and scholarly research at the intersection of art making and pedagogical practice. Her choreographic research focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration with other dancers, composers, and multimedia artists. In addition, Emmalee’s endeavors in both concert and screen dance emphasize her goal to create visually pleasing and experimental art that fosters collaboration and is a catalyst for cognitive thinking. Her recent awards include the Kristina Larson Graduate Dance Fund and the Dean’s Research/Creative Initiative Fund.
