Date: August 21st - 25th
Opening: 6pm - 9pm , August 25th
“The Elephant In The Room” is an exhibition that tackles the issue of police brutality in the United States. This body of work was directly influenced by the endless acts of police violence against unarmed black people in recent years. The artist, Anthony Patterson, has produced large paintings that not only speak to recent incidents, but also injustices of the past.
This marks the first solo exhibition by Anthony Patterson, a recent graduate of UNCG’s School of Art. Patterson is the recipient of the 2016-17 UNCG Artistic Merit Award. The UNCG Artistic Merit Award is generously sponsored by local artist, William Mangum, another UNCG Alum. The work on display is the result of this grant. The show will run from August 21st-25th. The reception will be held on Friday, August 25th, from 6-9pm at Greensboro Project Space.
