About Two. Six.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Ashley Scott reflected on how much her own ambition, health, and life mattered. As her own self-negligence took a toll on her psyche and overall conviction, she developed this collection of work as a personal gift of reassurance. It was meant to celebrates her self, ability, and future potential. Two. Six. is a time stamp, so to speak, of who Ashley was at this moment in history - a black, 26 year-old woman, navigating in the world.
About Ashley Scott
Ashley Scott graduated from UNCG with a BFA in Painting in 2020. She also holds a BFA in Animation and a minor in Art History from East Carolina University. She enjoys digital and traditional mediums and loves anything creative. Figures make up the majority of her work and she constantly uses herself as a reference point. Ashley’s beginning was with digital art, but now mostly works with charcoal and oil. Her lifelong journey as an artist has just begun and she is eager to develop her artistry and skill for the future.
About Second Stop
Second Stop is an opportunity for student exhibitions to travel from Greensboro Project Space’s downtown location to the UNCG campus. The three current Second Stop exhibitions, Dysconnected, by UNCG School of Art student Natalie Robinson, Two. Six., by UNCG School of Art alumna Ashley Scott, and The Lion, The Jackal, and The Man, by UNCG School of Art student Zaire Miles-Moultrie, will be on view in the Dean’s Office for the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the Office of the School of Health & Human Sciences, and the Collaborative Workspace for Public Health Education.
