He is the author of a guitar style that defies description. His music blends free improvisation, country, bluegrass and pop music.
Two-time Danish Grammy winner Ned Ferm has performed or recorded with John Parish, Mark Howard, Roswell Rudd, Airto Moriera, Jorge Rossy, Ben Street, Tyshawn Sorey, Jakob Bro, Jacob Anderskov, Kresten Osgood, Thomas Morgan, Mark Guiliana, Warren Smith, Steve Swell, Teitur, Kira Skov, Maria Faust, and many more.
“Ned Ferm plays a multitude of instruments, but is known mostly for his excellent saxophone playing … he has become an institution in and unto himself.”
– Copenhagen Jazzhouse Program, July 2015
“Ferm is a brute-force player who favors hard-angle skree and sickening drone, yet he also lets rip with plenty of passages both lyrical and mellow; the man’s no dunce, and he wrings grace out of the horn where you’d least expect it.”
